The Whitney Biennial Exhibition 2004
(Public Art Fund with The Whitney Museum)

In the spring of 2004, The Public Art Fund’s program, In The Public Realm - in collaboration with The Whitney Museum of American Art - presented seven artists and nine installations for the 2004 Whitney Biennial Exhibition in Central Park, New York. Artist Eli Sudbrack - also known as “assume vivid astro focus” - worked with industrial designer, Rama Chorpash, to create a colorful canopy for their installation, avaf8, located at the center of Central Park’s famed “skate circle.” To help the artists achieve their vision, XS Lighting & Sound supplied and programmed the lighting that would help to draw large crowds of skaters and spectators to the site. (Public Art Fund’s In The Public Realm is supported by The National Endowment for the Arts, The New York State Council on the Arts, The City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs, The JP Morgan Chase Foundation and other donors. This exhibition was made possible through the cooperation of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.)
