Past News
XS Lighting & Sound returns from The Entertainment Technology Show (ETS)-LDI 2004, hosted by Lighting Dimensions. This year, the important annual industry trade show and conference took place from October 22nd through 24th at The Sands convention center (connected to the Venetian Hotel) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A convention vital to audiovisual professionals - with more lighting and visual-based exhibitors than audio exhibitors, in recent years - ETS-LDI’s massive exhibitor hall included vendors of professional lighting, audio, effects and projection equipment for a wide range of live event venues including nightclubs, theater, concert halls, stadiums and arenas, and houses of worship.
Our senses weathered a multi-sensory assault as we were bombarded by the latest in lighting equipment and technology (from Martin, High End Systems, Color Kinetics, Elation, Robe America, Chauvet and Clay Paky), audio exhibits showcasing soundsystems booming with thumping music (Pioneer, American DJ), multi-colored lasers (RGBLaser System International), smoke machines (Antari Fog, Martin), and oversized screens with high-tech projectors (High End Systems). Martin’s fantastic ‘destination’ exhibit was constantly full of visitors, thanks in part to its abundance of press materials and knowledgeable Martin staff combined with the exhibit’s clubby-feeling “lounge” with waitress-tended open-bar. High End Systems also anchored the ETS-LDI floor with a very spacious, demonstrative exhibit that kept people returning, and Bernice Chauvet was the charismatic, bubbling host at Chauvet’s exhibit.
After three days of frenzied activity at ETS-LDI in Las Vegas, following a long flight from New York, how did our Dougie Lazer relax and unwind? By going sky-diving! Next year’s ETS-LDI takes place November 11th through 13th, 2005 in Orlando, Florida. Visit www.ldishow.com for more details.
